Students star on old-fashioned tube
Hundreds of local students will shine as part of a holiday show to be featured on Mountain Lake PBS.
Groups from Canada and the United States were filmed over several days last month for the holiday show.
About 200 students, as either musicians, singers or dancers, from the Montreal area are taking part, including Academie Marie Claire in Kirkland, 8 Count Dance Centre in Pierrefonds, Emmanuel Christian School in Dollard des Ormeaux, Greendale Elementary School in Pierrefonds and John Rennie High School’s jazz band.
“Everything is performed in the holiday spirit,” said Yvonne Stoute, corporate marketing representative for Mountain Lake PBS in Canada. “This is the first year so many of the participants are from the West Island.”
Stoute’s grandchild Jordan is taking part as a hip-hop dancer with 8 Count Dance Centre.
“It was a great experience and a lot of fun,” said Jordan Stoute, 12. “My friends think I’m pretty lucky to be on TV. We did a Christmas hip-hop routine. We had to smile all the time ― it was really cheesy.
“But I have to say dancing is my life,” added the Riverdale High School student.
The holiday spectacular airs five times, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m., Dec. 15 at 9 p.m., Dec. 21 at 4 p.m., Dec. 25 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 26 at 12 p.m.
