Unlucky Friday the 13th indeed...
Station 5
What started as a police officer's attempt to help a drunk youth find his way home ended with an arrest instead.
An officer from Station 5, covering the Pointe Claire and Dorval territories, was on patrol last Friday evening when he spotted a young man leaning against a signpost near the 20 exit ramp on St. John's Boulevard.
When the young man told him he was going to catch the bus to get home, the officer instead offered him a lift, thinking the youth seemed too inebriated to walk safely.
As he hopped into the car, the youth gave the officer his name.
It turns out he had been previously arrested and let out only on condition he not drink again.
The officer booked him for violating bail conditions.
Station 4
What would have been a simple ticket for not wearing a seatbelt in a moving vehicle became a little more serious when a passenger's constantly straying hand led a police officer on duty to discover some marijuana.
A patrol officer stopped a car at about 4:30 p.m. last Friday when he saw the passenger was not wearing his safety belt. When he walked over to them, he began smelling marijuana in the car, according to station 4 community relations officer Chantale Castonguay.
He then asked them to step out of the car. When the passenger began to nervously reach into his trench coat, the officer became more suspicious, and discovered enough marijuana to book him for possession with the intent to sell, as well as a digital pocket computer full of potential delivery addresses.
