Credit card fraud
A Montreal resident is under arrest for charges of possessing fake credit cards as well as robbery after he allegedly tried using one to pay for his gas at the Ultramar station at the intersection of Brusnwick and Sources Boulevard in Dollard des Ormeaux on March 3 between half an hour past midnight, Station 4 media relations officer Chantale Castonguay said .
When the man's credit card did not go through, the gas station's cashier stepped outside and called him back in before he could take off in his car. A couple of more tries later, the suspect asked him to please not call the police, and that he would pay back another day with cash.
The cashier called police, however, and after searching him, officers Robert Bell and Sébastien Lessard found not only that card, but 23 others on the suspect were fraudulent as well.
They took him in for questioning and found an extendable billy club and a bag of unidentified green vegetable substance in his car too.
Wallet theft
Police are on the look-out for two young adults after they stole wallets from teenagers at knifepoint. The suspects are approximately 17-year-old, short-haired francophones, weigh about 75 pounds and measure 5 '11. They followed their two 16-year-old victims out the Mcdonald's restaurant on the Sources/Pierrefonds Boulevard intersection on the evening of March 7, 2009, at about 8:30 p.m. and asked them for their money. No violence was involved as the latter two obeyed without question.
Would-be armed robbery foiled
An armed robbery was stopped in its tracks after a suspect ran away when a store clerk hit the panic button instead of opening up his cash register.
At 8:10 a.m. on March 2, a clerk at an unspecified shop on Lakeshore Road in Pointe Claire was going through his morning routine at the store before opening hours when an armed suspect stepped in.
He demanded the clerk to open the cash register, but the latter hit the panic button instead, alerting police and chasing off the would-be thief.
The suspect wore a dark hat, jacket and scarf. He was described as about 25 years old, measuring about 5 feet 11 inches, and weighing 184.8 pounds.
