RBC Royal Bank’s 8th annual “In Love with your Community” fundraising breakfast to benefit West Island Community Shares was held on February 10th and raised an impressive $20,000.
The event attracted many West Island families as well as business and community leaders who enjoyed a hearty breakfast while contributing to a worthy cause. Its success is the result of a team effort by RBC employees, the management of the St-Hubert Restaurant in Kirkland who provided the venue and the Loblaws stores in Kirkland and Pierrefonds that provided the food for the breakfast.
“RBC strongly believes in community initiatives that have a lasting social impact,” said Mr. Bernard Crevier, Regional Vice President of RBC Royal Bank. “As such, we are proud to support Community Shares, an organization that plays a key role in strengthening the West Island community.”
“Our thanks go out to Karen Kroon, RBC Branch Manager at Galeries des Sources and Linda Graziani, RBC Branch Manager at the Pointe-Claire shopping centre, who championed this fundraising breakfast as well as to all the RBC employees who worked hard to organize it,” said Caroline Tison, Executive Director. “We are in the last stretch of this year’s fundraising campaign and the proceeds from the breakfast will help us to achieve our campaign goal of $675,000.”
RBC Royal Bank recently further reinforced its commitment to the local community with a donation of $15,000 to West Island Community Shares. Mr. Crevier, who is also a member of the Board of Directors of Community Shares, presented a cheque in this amount to Karen Groom-Campeau, President and Caroline Tison, Executive Director of Community Shares.
RBC has been a steadfast supporter of Community Shares since 1998. In addition to the annual breakfast, its West Island branch employees contribute their time and energy to the organization of an annual golf tournament to benefit West Island Community Shares.
