Rah Rah to stop by Montreal
Rah Rah to stop by Montreal
Since making their out-of-town debut at Pop! Montreal in 2006, the buzz surrounding Rah Rah has been growing steadily and now the Montreal-born band is coming back for a concert on May 18, at The Green Room.
The show is part of a cross-Canada tour that started in their hometown on May 6. The Regina-based band will play songs from their first full-length album, ‘Going Steady’.

The 12-song-CD was released in 2008. With catchy songs, the record is easy and agreeable to listen to. Each tune takes you to a different place and tells a different story, all thanks to the atmosphere created by the music and the lyrics. And in addition to playing one or several instruments, five of the six members of the band sing on the record.

Since its release, ‘Going Steady’ has received consistent air play on CBC Radio 3 and reached #5 on the R3-30. The record has also charted on campus radio stations and in Exclaim! Magazine for the last two months.

In 2007, they were voted “Best Band in Regina” by a Prairie Dog’s Reader’s Poll. Rah Rah defines its music as “sweet sweet rock’n’roll”, influenced by artists like Sylvie, Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, The Ramones and many others.

In June, the band will take a break from its cross-Canada tour. Rah Rah will spend two weeks in Montreal in order to work on their next record with Kees Dekker. Last year, Dekker co-produced, engineered and mixed ‘Parc Avenue’ by ‘Plants and Animals’.

Rah Rah fans are now looking forward to seeing the band perform, as well as listening to their second album.
