Mother's Day weekend flower sale
Fundraiser for dialysis patients a great success
The MUHC Dialysis and Organ Transplant Fund, known as DialyTran, recently held their 5th annual Easter and Mother’s Day Flower Sales on the weekends of April 10, 11 and 12, and May 8, 9 and 10. The sales were held at several outdoor locations on Boulevard St. Jean in Dollard des Ormeaux,
Willing members of the organization, as well as other generous volunteers, young and old, including primary and secondary school, university and CEGEP students, enthusiastically gave of their time on the weekend to help raise much needed funds for the Renal Patient Support Programs in the Royal Vic and General.
The beautiful and very popular flower arrangements, provided by Tenefleurs, surprised and pleased many wives, mothers and grandmothers, and raised almost $17,000 for the patients.
DialyTran, created in 1983 as the Royal Victoria Hospital Kidney Fund, has been raising funds for the patients at the MUHC for many years, funding expensive dialysis machines and other necessary equipment, as well as providing patient education, recreational therapy programs and other diversions that help support the patients physically and emotionally during their long days attached to a dialysis machine.
