Lac St. Louis Hosts 21st Annual Soccer Tournament
While organizers may have feared the bad weather predicted, sunshine welcomed the 21st Annual Lac St. Louis Soccer Tournament this past weekend. More than 200 teams squared off on fields throughout the Lac St. Louis region, which stretches from Hudson to Cote-St-Luc.

The two-day event garnered much interest from fans, as it does every year. On top of attracting local squads from within the region, the tournament also entertained teams from as far as Gloucester, Ottawa and St-Donat.

Championship games were held Sunday afternoon with many local teams enjoying success. More than a few would call themselves champions by day’s end.

The girls U-9 Pierrefonds Cobras Blue definitely saved their best for last, defeating Boisbriand 6-0 in the final at Greendale Park. Deanna Vicanek-Santaguida led the tournament by scoring six times for the champs, who lost just once along the way.

Lakeshore’s U-10 Feminine A Red squad enjoyed a remarkable tournament, outscoring opponents 13-0 in three games before meeting the CSRDP Wildcats, also undefeated, in the final. A 2-1 victory clinched the title for the hometown girls.

Lakeshore also placed well in the U-11 and U-12 Masculine A divisions. The U-12 team claimed their age bracket by shutting out the NDIP Panthers 3-0 while the U-11s steamrolled through three group games, winning 5-2, 8-0 and 2-0, before finishing with a 3-1 win against the Pierrefonds Cobras. Eli Addis and Andrew Barr combined for nine goals to lead the younger squad.

Lakeshore also took the U-9 Masculine Red division by outscoring opponents 21-2 over the weekend. Patrick Meagher led the entire tournament in scoring by finding the back of the net on nine occasions.

Finally, the U-15 Masculine AA group was decided when the Pierrefonds Cobras defeated the Monteuil Dynamo 2-0 at Ed Janiszewski Park in Dollard. The Cobras allowed just one goal in their four games en route to the title.
