Resourceful centre offers support
The West Island Community Resource Centre is a non-profit charitable community organization located in Pointe Claire, serving all West Island residents. We are an information and referral service that provides information on all types of support services and special activities through our personal response service.
We have a dedicated staff that responds to each phone call received at our office. We work with the caller to offer the most appropriate information needed. Inquiries are also received by e-mail (info@crcinfo.ca) or directly through our website www.crcinfo.ca). We refer to our extensive database with more than 3,400 files of information on local and area services. You’re also welcome to drop by and ask us for help or just check the website if you prefer.

If you have concerns about a legal issue, we offer a free legal clinic to West Island residents by appointment only, and upon the availability of our volunteer lawyer.

Thanks to our close links with many other community partners, we also produce guidebooks aimed at particular sections of the population considered to be vulnerable. These include the West Island Seniors’ Index, Tips & Resources for Low Income Earners, West Island Youth Resources and Accessible West Island (for professionals and caregivers of people with disabilities.)

The West Island Community Resource Centre is very active in community development as well. For more than 10 years, we’ve been hosting Network Lunch Conferences, bringing together professionals who work with our youth. At the other end of the age spectrum, we’ve played a large role in identifying the needs of our seniors’ through the West Island Seniors’ Table (committee). We’re also involved with groups dealing with everything from issues related to poverty to the needs of children and their families.

Our latest effort is a pilot project with the city of Beaconsfield that involves providing information to their seniors with the hopes that they would share it with other seniors in their community. The goal is to give them the opportunity to stay active and independent.

We work very closely with all of our community partners including the two health care agencies, four police stations, two school boards, our local development centre (CLD de l’Ouest-de-l’Île), our community organizations and all of our elected officials.

Our main source of funding comes from Centraide of Greater Montreal, West Island Community Shares, the City of Pointe Claire and now the City of Beaconsfield.

For more information, call 514-694-6404, check www.crcinfo.ca, or stop by 114 Donegani Ave., Pointe Claire.
