Volunteer West Island participates in West Island Chamber of Commerce Business & Job Fair 2009

The West Island Chamber of Commerce held its second annual Business & Job Fair at the Holiday Inn Pointe-Claire in October. This well attended event was particularly timely, given the vicissitudes of the current global economic situation. About 40 exhibitors were present, as well as representatives from numerous community organizations and businesses. The Fair featured recruitment initiatives, exhibits, résumé evaluations and business consultations, along with luncheon networking sessions and conferences, providing an excellent contact-building opportunity for all participants.

Volunteer West Island was represented by Shari Fraser, Volunteer Coordinator, who was present at the VWI kiosk both days to speak with visitors and distribute promotional material about VWI services and activities for seniors, as well as information about the volunteer recruitment program. VWI maintains an up-to-date bank of individual, youth, group and corporate volunteer opportunities to meet the increasing demand for help among non-profit community groups and organizations in the West Island.

Volunteer West Island is the only volunteer recruitment organization in the West Island and recruits volunteers for over 100 non-profit community organizations, as well as developing and delivering services, programs, and activities to help seniors remain autonomous.
