Pearson to close schools, teach more French
The Lester B. Pearson School Board voted last night to close two West Island elementary schools and merge two others in their major school changes for 2010.

Jubilee elementary school in Pointe Claire and Herbert Purcell Academy in Pierrefonds will be closed and Terry Fox School in Pierrefonds will be relocated into the Herbert Purcell building starting next year, Pearson chairman Marcus Tabachnick said. In addition, Bishop Whelan elementary school in Dorval will merge with Meadowbrook elementary in Lachine, with students using the Meadowbrook building.

More updates and reaction to follow throughout the day.
