Local players go pro
It’s a dream come true for Beaconsfield resident Marc-Edouard Vlasic. Meanwhile, for Kirkland resident Josh Tordjman it could be the start of something very special. Both graduates of the midget AAA West Island Lions, Vlasic, a defenceman, has made it to the bright lights of the National Hockey League, cracking the San Jose Sharks lineup. Meanwhile, former Montreal Canadiens great Patrick Roy might have said goaltender Josh Tordjman played over his head during last spring’s Memorial Cup tournament, but somebody from the Phoenix Coyotes organization didn’t think so. Tordjman impressed the Coyotes so much they signed him to a free agent contract in July. He attended their training camp this fall, before assigning him to their East Coast Hockey League affiliate Phoenix RoadRunners. “Josh is a dynamic and athletic goaltender who the Coyotes are extremely high on, said RoadRunners Head Coach Ron Filion. "We are excited to have him with us and look forward to helping him advance in his professional career."
