Store ransacked
Thieves broke into a pair of Kirkland stores last Thursday night and fled with goods valued at about $50,000, according to Const. Roberto Del Papa of Montreal police Station 1.
At 11:30 p.m., the suspects smashed the two front windows in the door to a sports store on St. Charles Boulevard, he said. Once inside, the crooks forced open the cash register only to discover that it was empty.
The robbers then moved to a nearby cellular phone shop, where they pried open the back door with a crowbar, Del Papa said. Inside they stole 160 cell phones and Blackberrys. They fled the scene before police arrived.
