Political Editorial
A new election campaign begins in view of the general elections which will be held in Quebec on March 26th. Any election campaign is a privileged occasion for a journalist to act as an impartial witness in this important exercise of democracy.
Also, The Chronicle makes a commitment to show a huge concern of equity and objectivity. The information will be treated with rigor according to the principles promulgated in the Journalistic Practices manual of Hebdos Transcontinental, as well as in the code of ethics of the Fédération professionnelle des journalistes du Québec (FPJQ).
Over all, a well-balanced coverage of the candidates and their parties will be assured in terms of frequency, place and space. Also, the newspaper will not publish letters of opinions andor partisan chronicles during this period and will pay particular attention to all articles of political nature.
The front page, being the reflection of the current events of the week, will be left to the discretion of the person in charge of information, and will decide on its contents according to the importance of the news. The same principles of equity and objectivity still apply here.
Finally, the surveys realized during this period will be treated with a lot of diligence in consideration of the used methodology. (Marilaine Bolduc-Jacob, News Director)
